Coaches

Patti Arrison began her skating career as an adult with the Skating Club of Dartmouth. Her passion is ice dance, and she has recently becoming interested in figures. Patti is certified by Learn to Skate USA and PSA. When she is not at the rink, she is teaching English classes at Norwich University.

Amelia has been on skates since she could walk. At age 3 Amelia was introduced to figure skating through BFCS and continued her skating journey with Barre Figure Skating Club until she graduated high school. Once in college, Amelia took her first year to settle in but after a year of longing to get back on the ice, Amelia joined the Quinnipiac University Figure Skating club her sophomore year. Amelia recently transferred to UVM and being home has given her the opportunity to rejoin BFSC as a coach. During the weekdays Amelia pursues her Bachelor's in Psychological Sciences with a minor in Special Education. Amelia also works through Washington County Mental Health Services which has given her valuable experience with children, especially those with special needs.

Candace is a member of US Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA, and the Professional Skaters Association. She has a Registered Skating Skills Coach certification from PSA, and she has passed her Intermediate Skating Skills and Adult Bronze Skating Skills tests. Candace has been an instructor at both CVSC and BFSC for the past few years. She is on the BFSC board and is currently the head coach of the BFSC basic skills program. Her skaters range from children to adults, with interests ranging from recreational skating to beginner and intermediate skating skills testing. When not skating, Candace is a financial director for the State of Vermont. Rate: $60/hr

Missy started skating at four. She began her training in group lessons in Barre, then continued with private lessons in Burlington and Essex at age six. She skated 4-6 days a week at various rinks until she was sixteen. She has wonderful memories of all day “summer school” skating programs in Burlington, traveling around New England and New York to compete, and being invited to skate every year for Barre in their annual show.

In her twenties Missy lived in Philadelphia for several years, and would frequently walk over to the UPENN ice rink (twenty blocks from her home), skates in hand, just to “push around” between classes. She cherished these sessions as they were mid-day, and she would often have the giant rink to herself. 

“The focus, determination, work ethic, stamina, drive, high expectations, artistry, creativity, self analysis, and friends that I’ve gained from figure skating have shaped who I am. I wouldn’t trade my experiences as a skater for anything. I’m very proud that I’m a skater.” - Missy
